Fax Mail

It has never been easier to have your own personal fax number. And the best part is it’s FREE!

If you have an email address that accepts file attachments (no a standard Juno account won’t make the cut here), you can have your own personal fax number, operational 24 hours a day, never have to worry about phone calls waking you in the middle of the night., and best of all, no additional phone line to pay for! Instead, faxes are delivered as TIFF image files to your email box!

There are two companies now offering this service, known as faxmail, for free.

  1. JFAX.COM

Offers a basic account with a free fax number in a area code it chooses – never your own. L

(My JFAX number ended up being a 209 area code – Central California, though I live in Northern California.)

Faxes are delivered to your email box as a standard TIFF file.

If you wish to choose the local area code of your fax number, or take advantage of their outgoing fax services, you can subscribe to their Business services for about $12 a month. Kinda pricey for the typical home office user, considering your could add a extra line for that price, but a steal if they would lower this to around $5 or $6 a month. If you are a heavy fax user, this may be a great deal even at $12!

  2. IFAXMAIL.COM

Offers a free 941 area code fax number (Florida), with faxes delivered to your email box. No charge ever! Or you can sign-up for a toll-free fax number for a mere $4 a month. Faxes are deivered to your email box as standard TIFF files.

Additional features planned soon.

  1. EFAX.COM

Offers a free random fax number, with faxes delivered to your email box. Faxes are sent in proprietary .efx file format, requiring the use of their free Efax Microviewer software to view received faxes.

Toll Free Efax numbers are also available for only $29.95 per year plus 10 cents per received page. This is by far the best deal I have seen on this to date! Plus if you sign up now your first 50 faxes are free!

  1. OneBox.Com

This is my favorite choice so far, though I have not had the opportunity to try them yet! OneBox offers a combination of free fax, email & voicemail services.

OneBox offers the promise of your own personal, LOCAL voicemail/fax number, plus a onebox.com email account, FREE for life! And not only can you receive voicemail messages in your email box, you will also be able to check them over the phone!

The bigest advantage for me, is I can select a number with my own local area code. But this numbers are only available in 3 regional areas right now, so the choice of numbers is limited. My advice: keep checking their web page to see when local numbers are available in the area your live!

Do you know of other faxmail companies out there? Whether free or fee based, please drop me a note and tell me about them so I can list them here.

Also, if you have a JFAX or similar fax number you wish to trade, say for one with a different area code, click here to post a listing.
